Today’s how-to: Transform a pallet into a (succulent-filled) table. Even the legs for this garden-table project are repurposed: they were found at a garage sale.

So, I have an indoor fireplace that I can’t currently utilize. But there are all sorts of things that I could do to dress it up!
Loving these ideas…

Placing ecclectic items inside the cavity.

Firewood! A pile of driftwood and seashells would be even better!

Books - I love this. Even lined up in a row would be nice.

Fireplace candelabra.
What are some of your favorite ideas?
So, today I stopped at Salvation Army to pick up a few t-shirts for a sewing project I’m working on. It was supposed to be a quick in and out, after work trip. I should have known better. The strangeness of thrift stores always gets the best of me.
Today, I came out with this beauty.

Yes, that’s dandelion-colored crushed velvet. And it’s broken in just the right amount to be the perfect reading chair. I can even curl up in it comfortably - I checked.
Great idea for a kitchen or a bathroom throw rug. Simple enough to do. Here’s a splendid tutorial on how to crochet in the round. After amassing a pile of circles, all you’ll do is connect them with a couple of slip stitches. And BOOM! There you go.

Want to make this for my forthcoming apartment. Cutest idea ever.

It’s quite simple really.
I seem to find them everywhere. And from my point of view, they are overflowing with some DIY possibility. Case in point:

This is what I see when I walk through the warehouse on my way into the office every morning. I’d venture to say that there has to be more than a hundred beautiful shipping pallets sitting in that warehouse, some occupied, some sitting forlornly like these ones. It makes me want to pick one up and throw it in the back of my car so that I can decorate with them. Is that wrong?
I’ve found a few DIY projects that center around repurposing crate pallets. Check them out. I think that the Succulent Table might be my favorite.
PALLET PROJECTS:
DIY Succulent Table: Dissect an old shipping crate, add some scrap lumber, and you’re well on your way to constructing this simple patio table.

Crate Pallet Plant Stand: No assembly required. Just paint desired color and load on the plants. After it’s dry, of course.

Wood Pallet Bookshelf: A simple bookcase made from pallets and a few 1x4’s.

Pallet Lounge Chairs: Easy tutorial and relatively cost-conscious. Just in time for summer. I’d add cushions.

Pallet Coffee Table: Avoid removing nails and sawing wood for this table by fitting the pallet with a hardboard bottom and filling the cracks with mortar.

Pallet Reading Nook: This chair is constructed from two crate pallets and designed to be tucked into a corner. This DIY tutorial is done in two parts. Visit part one and part two.

Wow. I stumbled across this diy for a simple dining room table today and I did a double take. 1. It looks simple enough, that even I could do it. 2. It’s totally done in the style that I love - a little bit rustic, a little bit modern. Will definitely be trying this one out.

You may or may not be able to tell, but this picture was definitely taken in a department store.
No matter. I want this chair dearly. The asymmetrical design produces the perfect proportions to curl up and read a book in. {I know. I tried it out, keeping that in mind.} I love the ribbed backing and the polka dots. Love.
