// Yes, that’s crushed velvet.//

So, today I stopped at Salvation Army to pick up a few t-shirts for a sewing project I’m working on. It was supposed to be a quick in and out, after work trip. I should have known better. The strangeness of thrift stores always gets the best of me.

Today, I came out with this beauty.

Yes, that’s dandelion-colored crushed velvet. And it’s broken in just the right amount to be the perfect reading chair. I can even curl up in it comfortably - I checked.

DIY: Make this mod dining table in 1-2-3!

Wow. I stumbled across this diy for a simple dining room table today and I did a double take. 1. It looks simple enough, that even I could do it. 2. It’s totally done in the style that I love - a little bit rustic, a little bit modern. Will definitely be trying this one out.

You may or may not be able to tell, but this picture was definitely taken in a department store.

No matter. I want this chair dearly. The asymmetrical design produces the perfect proportions to curl up and read a book in. {I know. I tried it out, keeping that in mind.} I love the ribbed backing and the polka dots. Love.

// DIY Fence Board Headboard//

I love the idea for this headboard. Love! Love! Love! Except, I think that when I do this project, I’ll probably pick the word DREAM - reminding me both to keep walking towards the vision for my life that God gives me and also to rest my heart at night.

Dana from House Tweaking came up with this idea. You can get the link for the DIY instructions, as well as find out how to mount it on the wall, by clicking this.

// Industrial piping: It’s not just for contractors anymore//

More lovely DIY inspiration from Etsy user DirtyBils Interiors. Check out this great industrial pipe bookshelf and its complement, the pipe corner shelf.

These pieces would match perfectly with this DIY pipe shelving unit I found on the Brick House blog awhile back. Definitely doable.

Another note-to-self blog about my dream house. I WILL have a lamp like this one. I bet that I could use driftwood and re-purpose an old lamp to look like it. Love the odd shape of the shade especially.
Here’s a link I found that’s similar that shows how to make your own DIY Driftwood Lamp.

I really love the vinyl set up in this room - including their massive record collection and the beautiful turntable. I can just see myself curled up next to the fireplace with a cup of tea and book by Jane Austen, listening to a little bit of the Black Keys. Um, yes please.

How To: Make Twig Furniture

This DIY piece would go perfectly with the coat hanger project I posted about a week ago. Have I mentioned lately how obsessed I am with HGTV’s decorating section on their website? OBSESSED.

// DIY Pipe Shelving//

Ok. I want to make shelves like this. Really badly. I found directions online from Morgan at The Brick House blog - the blog follows the design and renovation of her small brick house. Her style is both modern and vintage and I love it.

You can access the DIY instructions for the pipe shelving unit here.
